I’m currently reading (among other things – I tend to read multiple books at once, not to mention all the stuff online…) Giving, by former president Bill Clinton. I’ve only begun, but thought the following was an appropriate assessment of our current human condition:
“The modern world, for all its blessings, is unequal, unstable, and unsustainable. And so the great mission of the early twenty-first century is to move our neighborhoods, our nation, and the world toward integrated communities of shared opportunities, shared responsibilities, and a shared sense of genuine belonging, based on the essence of every successful community: that our common humanity is more important than our interesting differences.”
I am inspired, as we begin this new year (as recognized in this culture ; ) that we have set forth such a grand plan for Peace Fest 08, that we have so many giving people of so many talents involved, and that the ultimate result of all of our efforts will be a giant, 3-day GIFT to all involved, and to the recipients of the services of our supported organizations.
August will be here sooner than we think!

Amen Cotton!
A shared sense of genuine belonging….something I feel being involved with this awesome group of true givers!
Let us commence this new year with more hope and fervor for our common cause of peace everywhere.
